Greetings... and thank you for showing an interest in LCMR Volleyball. It is a fun and exciting sport... as you will hopefully soon see.
We usually start with VOLUNTARY PRACTICES beginning somewhere around mid-July. These practices are for those who want to get a head start on learning their brand new skills and also for more experienced players who want to get back into shape for the upcoming season. MANDATORY PRACTICES usually start around mid-August or so (this year it's August 16th). At that point we should all be ready to go full force into our season. That leaves very little time left in which to prepare for our season. It begins as soon as school starts and runs through all of October. Please read the NJSIAA Guidelines and Clarifications included on this website or go to NJSIAA.com. No student is permitted to participate in a match unless she has attended a minimum of six (6) Mandatory Practices
Please keep in mind that all participants in LCMR athletics MUST have a doctor's physical on file with LCMR and must be registered in Family ID. There is a link to Family ID on the School's website. Please take care of that as soon as possible even if your physical is still current. Make sure you are cleared to play. This goes for both practices and matches. This year you are again REQUIRED to watch a video on opioids. Go to the district website for the link to that video.
There are instructional volleyball videos that ALL volleyball players should watch. They are excellent and teach the skills the right way. Please check them out. You can Google "Misty May Instructional Volleyball Videos". They are located on YouTube and they are terrific!
Again, please check them out!!! https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=misty+may+volleyball+training+videos YouTube and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube. www.youtube.com
Stockton University usually holds a four night Summer Volleyball Camp in mid July. For more information contact Stockton head volleyball coach Allison Walker at (609) 626-6038 or email walkera@stockton.edu. This year's clinic was held at ACIT and was hosted by the East Coast Crush Volleyball Club . It was attended by four LCMR players.
If you don't have a volleyball you should go buy one. You can get decent ones (for practicing) at Walmart for about $10. You will also need kneepads and a water bottle as well.
We use a text messaging system called "Remind". To join LCMR Volleyball Text Messages: On your phone enter this number 81010 then type this message: @aferran That will enable you to get volleyball updates whenever they are sent out.
This year we cannot get into the gym until the newly refinished floor at LCMR completely dries. Until that time we will be practicing at the Seashore Community Church of the Nazarene Ministry Center on Seashore Rd. Here is our tentative practice schedule:
Mon 8/9 4-6 pm
Tues 8/10 4-6 pm
Mon 8/16 10-noon
Tues 8/17 3:30-5:30 pm
Wed 8/18 10-noon
Fri 8/20 10-noon
Mon 8/23 10-noon
You are only permitted to practice if you are approved in FamilyID and have turned in your athletic physical to the school. Masks must be worn until further notice.
Thanks for your interest. I'll be updating things as I get new information.

The 2021 Cape May Diamonds Band
The Cape May Diamonds band was started in 1972 when the Destiny Trio featuring Laurie Beechman, Roy Baker and I split up.
The original Cape May Diamonds band was a trio also... Patty Pellegrino, Ric Rutherford and I. We played two summers at the Manor Bar in N. Wildwood. In the Fall of 1974 we added Steve Constant and Ray Porter, bought a van, signed with a talent agency and went out on the road.
We played clubs and hotels throughout western Pennsylvania and upstate New York for a year then came back to Cape May where we were the house band at Gloria on Beach Dr. The band then went through a number of changes member-wise.
We became very popular locally because of some of our original tunes and how tight we had gotten musically as a band. Our makeup at that time was Michael Garrett, Walt Planer, Tony Sailer, Ric Rutherford and me. After that many more modifications took place and some of us still, to this day, get together to do special reunion gigs at verious locations around town.
Some other band members included: Linda Ferrante, Bob Brow, Will & Suza, Rose Kelly, Tommy Vulturo, Steve Cook, Dave Jarvis and Craig Soma.
We were the very first “rock concert” to take place in the new Convention Hall in Cape May. Back in the 70's we also were granted permission by the city of Cape May to do concerts on the back steps of Convention Hall and on the deck of the Sugar Cone restaurant.
It's hard to believe that we are still playing music after 48 years.
As a result of "Old School" disbanding, the Cape May Diamonds are re-forming in order to play gigs during the summer of 2021.
The 2021 Cape May Diamonds are: Camille Dewing-Vallejo, Tony Sailer, Ric Rutherford, John Wilsey and me.
